Police Arrest Man for Harvey Cedars Car Theft

HARVEY CEDARS, NJ – On June 4, 2012 Borough Police responded to West Salem Ave and spoke to the resident at 2 West Salem about a vehicle that was taken without owners consent. The victim reported that Gerard Jesequel, age 50 also of 2 West Salem, took the victim’s vehicle from the residence after being told that he could not. Jesequel was contacted by cell phone. He spoke to the victim, as well as Borough Police. During his conversation with the police, he indicated that he had been drinking and made various threats to end his life. . He also gave a location of Route 87 in New York State. The victim was able to supply information to police as to where in New York he may be heading. New York State Police were notified and responded to the residence and located Jesequel. He was charged with theft of the motor vehicle as well as a laptop computer that he had taken. New York State Police also arrested him on outstanding warrants from New York State. The car and computer were both recovered. Firearms were also found in the vehicle. It was determined that they were stolen from the residence in Harvey Cedars. These were also recovered and additional theft charges are pending. Officer Brian Smith conducted the investigation. He was assisted by The New York State Police.
